Quality, design & details
In 1999, Ken Mac, a retired metallurgical engineer, frustrated by the quality of the results he was achieving when attempting to restore his family furniture, embarked on a journey which resulted in him developing a scentifically based product to meet his needs. He deliberately avoided silicones found in most supermarket furniture products knowing how they dry wood out leading to cracking and splitting. He also avoided oils which leave products sticky. Instead he carefully chose a unique blend of food grade waxes taken up in a mild organic carrier. The results were so spectacular that he could not keep this product all to himself and so the journey began...
At first, Ken focussed only on the traditional uses of waxes using Maxwax as a furniture polish for all wooden articles. He found Maxwax helped to hide scratches on wooden and lacquered surfaces. Maxwax also removed water markings on wooden surfaces. Maxwax could be used as a protective coating on outdoor furniture as it retarded greying and significantly reduced cracking. Maxwax developed the natural grain and colour of raw wood and could even be used on outdoor furniture and fencing to prevent Grafitti from sticking. The customer feedback regarding Maxwax was and still is overwhelmingly positive. New uses for Maxwax then started being investigated and lead to an amazing discovery....

Further Uses for MAXWAX
MAXWAX is great for cleaning and protecting the interior surfaces of cars such as dashboards. as it doesn't collect dust like silicon products. Leather products like bags, shoes, jackets, hats, saddles and couches benefit from MAXWAX. Test a small area first as light leathers will darken. MAXWAX can be used on your BBQ to easily remove fat splatter and leave non-cook surfaces clean and bright. MAXWAX revives paint surfaces and sun faded plastics. Tradies love MAXWAX to protect and restore their tools. Granite, stone and terrazzo surfaces are enhanced, cleaned and protected by MAXWAX. Last but not least...have you ever struggled to remove a label off a jar? Use a generous dollip of MAXWAX, leave for a few minutes and the label slides off easily.
Name Changes, Bottles and more...
Ken "Mac" chose the name "Max"wax for this product because he wanted the personal touch that he puts into the product to be evident in the name. In America, the name "Max"wax was already taken so when he expanded to the USA he chose the name Mac's Wax for this market. Ken's youngest daughter oversees the American sales. The video in this website is his American named Maxwax. Ken's eldest daughter oversees the Australian sales and distribution and his granddaughter is involved in the marketing. This truely is a multi-generational, family owned and operated business.
Over the years, Ken has also upgraded the Maxwax bottles to better reflect the quality of the Maxwax product inside. Some photos show previous versions of the bottles. The product itself has always remained the same.
We know you will love this product as much as we do!
TESTIMONIALS
I just want to let you know what a fantastic product Maxwax is. Since stocking it, we have had numerous customers coming back to the shop for more Maxwax, all with glowing praise for how good it is. We use it ourselves and find that our displays looks so much better when "Maxwaxed". Our staff actually enjoy applying it because it smells so nice and is so easy to use.Maxwax has certainly worked for us!Sherin (store owner)
Just a quick note to say that I am really rapt with this product. It is magic. I have started to coat all my tools with it and the results to date are amazing. As well as protection it seems to work as a lubricant too without any damage caused to the wood when using the tools. I have been looking for a product like this for years. I am so pleased. Many thanks again.Mike
I bought a Rimu dining table some 18 months ago. I have found that Maxwax has developed a beautiful patina to the surface and without much effort from me at all.Maxwax is also really good for cleaning up those "sticky finger" kids marks that they have a habit of leaving behind! I am only now due for my second bottle, so the Maxwax goes a really long way!I declare myself a Maxwax fan!Julie
I would like to highly recommend MaxWax to any person that want their furniture to be in top condition.I owned & managed a couple of upmarket retail furniture stores for over 26 years. I have lost count of the number of waxes & polish that our stores used & sold. Not one of these products gave me the satisfaction that I received from using MaxWax, the finish & ease of applying MaxWax was a very pleasant surprise.MaxWax in my opinion is the best furniture restorer on the market at the present time!Kevin
I think your product 'Maxwax' is great. I have a large square dining room table sitting in a window area, so obviously it gets a lot of sunlight. Everyone comments on the beautiful finish and that is thanks to Maxwax. I also polish my other furniture with your product. Thank you.Jill
I needed some wax for my beautiful Rimu furniture and having moved abroad, was having difficulty in finding a quality product to protect my furniture. I found Maxwax on the internet and was very impressed with the service. All my e-mails were answered promptly and with all the information required. The Maxwax itself is keeping my wood looking good as new and I would definitely recommend this company as an excellent provider.Rachel
I can truly say that maxwax is the best wooden surface restorer I have ever used. I used it on a 20 year old tawa wooden kitchen at our busy family farm house and it was THE only thing that would keep the surface glossy and mark free. Nothing I tried would even touch it for results. I also use it on my parents 100 year old oak table and it leaves a lovely finish. We also have a recycled pine, big 1.5 metre square table where we now live and it is still the only product that will cover any marks and leave it looking shiny and mark free. Great product. Thank you. Good luck.Jan
I have been using Maxwax on my hardwood dining table and chairs for the past 10 years as it was recommended to me by the retailer. I am by nature a lazy person so Maxwax is perfect for me! It is easy to apply: you don't have to use some super-special technique. You don't have to wear gloves because it doesn't contain anything yucky or harsh. It protects the table so well that I never have to use coasters or placemats. Water and liquid spills just bead on it so it makes cleanup easy. I get real delight in using it because it gives the table a nice lustre that is warm and natural-looking.Della Kidd
When I first saw the Ad for MAXWAX , I couldn't wait to try it, even if it was too good to be true, but I was flabergasted when with just one 250ml bottle, I turned a grotty old but good quality saddle that I paid $100.00 for, into a show piece that looked like it was just new out of the shop!!!It was faded to green in most areas from being exposed to sun, and very scuffed and dry. That same saddle sold a month later for $600.00, And needless to say the drips left in the bottle went on everything I could reach inside the house and the car... even the cat and dog followed me around for a taste (they were totally unaffected by their taste testing :-)Anne
I have a teak sideboard which was looking very dry and sad. After only one application of Maxwax it looks better than the day I bought it! The colour has returned and the wood looks healthy and nourished without any effort on my part. Maxwax is an incredibly good product!Muriel
